Passionate About Inspiring Others
For educators: Do you know the difference between social justice education, culturally responsive teaching, decolonizing a curriculum, multicultural education, and antiracist school practices? Many school leaders think of all of the above as pretty much the same thing. However, there are practical and philosophical differences when considering implementing these programs and practices. What you prioritize depends on many factors.
For students: How can you apply your unique talents and interests to become a visionary changemaker? Learn how immersing yourself in the culture and Spanish language in Medellin, Colombia, will help you make connections with people from different backgrounds, encourage empathy, and foster your inner visionary change agent.

For parents: Are you afraid that you will say the wrong thing when your child makes an observation about someone with a visible difference while you are in public? For example, what would you say if your child asks, "why is that person's skin dirty?" Or "why do those people speak like that?" Do you shush your child? What should you do? What should you say if the observation is offensive to others? The answers to these questions have to do with developing your own racial and ethnic identity. Comfort handling these situations will grow as you become more knowledgeable about the history of systemic racism, and the other types of biases that exist in yourself and in society. You will begin to see your child's curiosity as an opportunity to teach about where you stand as an active antiracist parent and member of your community.
For all: Do you want to learn how to build coalitions who will re-imagine our existing systems of power in schools and in our communities so that we all truly honor the dignity, joy, and childhood of all children alike?
